General Description

History

Medical Education Master Programme was accepted by The Council of Higher Education in 2005. Programme is implemented by Medical Education Departments academic staff. One of the students of the programme was graduated and the other student is going on thesis project. Duration of the programme is 2 years, 2 semesters per year. The language of the programme is Turkish.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

Second Cycle (Masters Degree) Programme with thesis is comprised of courses (at least 54 ECTS), a seminar (2 ECTS), and field study (4 ECTS) and thesis (60 ECTS) credits. İn total 120 ECTS credits. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00.

Profile of the Programme

Students enrollment to Medical Education Master Programme has been started in 2008. The programme is prepared for medical doctors who are working or are willing to work in the field of medical education, and aims to provide opportunities for the acquisition of knowledge, skills and attitudes on basic concepts and theories of educational science, their adaptation into the field of medical education, and competencies to follow up developments in medical education. The programme includes obligatory and elective medical education courses in each semester. Students can select elective courses from other departments, institutes or universities.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Students are evaluated with two midterms and one final exam, task and project assignments for each course. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 for each course.

Graduation Requirements

Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB / S / TP grades.
