General Description

History

Dokuz Eylul University, Institute of Social Sciences Electronic Commerce Master programme was established on 2018. The programme is second in Turkey in the field and first programme within the state universities. The program aims to train researcher, practitioner and administrator human resources with the goal of a electronic commerce to industrial organizations, service businesses and commercial businesses. Language of the program is Turkish.

Specific Admission Requirements

First Cycle Degree in the same or in related disciplines, Transcript, Acceptable score on ALES (Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Exam) or Equivalent GRE, GMAT score. Acceptable score on Language Proficiency Tests. Acceptable weighted score based on the first cycle cumulative grade point average (GPA) and ALES score. The exceptions to the requirements of ALES and Foreign Language Proficiency scores is announced by the Graduate School. However, ALES requirement is waived for the admissions to the second cycle graduate programs offered by the Conservatory and the departments of Fine Arts Faculty, where students are admitted only by the Artistic Aptitude Test as well as for the graduates of doctorate /arts proficiency/medical residency/ dental residency/ veterinary residency/ pharmaceutical residency programs. Final admission is based on the evaluation of the related academic unit committee. International student admission requirements are decided by the Graduate School Executive Committee.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective.

Profile of the Programme

Dokuz Eylül University, Social Sciences Institute, Electronic Commerce master program has 8 instructors. Number of the laboratories used by both students and to conduct courses is 3 and is open from 8.30 to 17.00 weekdays. Wireless connection is available. Language of the program is Turkish.

5   Develop strategies that required about transformation of the business related to e-commerce.
6   Make analysis on consumer behavior in e-commerce environment and develop new strategies about this subject.
7   Investigate potential market alternatives for e-commerce and create opportunities.
8   Implement the techniques to use HTML, CSS, Script documents.
9   Be competent in management of social media platforms and advertising.
10   Organize, express and interpret the legal contracts related to electronic commerce.
11   Comprehend the database process by using SQL commands.
12   Design, interpret and evaluate an information system, its system parts and processes.
13   Generate solutions to e-commerce problems with objective and systematic approach within the scope of ethical values.
14   Be competent in managing web content.
15   Develop skills for working and taking responsibility in e-commerce and entrepreneurship.

Students have master degree fromElectronic Commerce master program can find jobs at public institutions, firms and research businesses in several positions. Besides, they can be research assistant, lecturer and instructor at universities.

Course Structure Diagram with Credits

All courses in electronic commerce master program are compulsory or elective. Students who are successfully done courses have to conduct and achieve a master thesis. There is no internship possibility. First term courses are related with theoretical introduction to and principles of the area. Second term is more likely turned to analysis and interpretation ability and researches.

Graduation Requirements

Second Cycle (Master's Degree) Program with thesis is comprised of courses (at least 55 ECTS), a seminar (2 ECTS) and field study (3 ECTS) and thesis (60 ECTS), in total 120 ECTS credits. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB/ S / TP grades.d all the courses with at least CB/ S / TP grades.
