General Description

History

Logistics Management Program, which offers in affiliation with Dokuz Eylül University a four-year bachelor education involving a medium of instruction in English Language, aims to meet the qualified manpower requirements within the context of Logistics Sector .

Dokuz Eylul University Logistics Management Program has started student enrollment in 2015-2016 Academic Year. The graduates of the Program will be able to play an effective part in the sector and find international business opportunities. The basic aim of the Program is to create graduates provided with critical thinking, inquiring outlook, self-confidence, self-efficacy, self-discipline, social responsibility, leadership qualifications, teamwork skills, life-long learning competencies and dedication to ethical values. It is adopted as a principle to make better working conditions and participation of all participants.

The Program is carried out in Tınaztepe Campus. The medium of instruction of the Program is in English Language. Its curriculum covers such main fields as Transportation, Logistics, Supply chain Management, Business Administration, Calculus, Economics, International Trade and Law. TM-1 scores, received on the University Entrance Exam conducted by the Assessment, Selection and Placement Center (OSYM), is considered in enrollment for the Department. Therefore, those entitled to get enrolled to the program but lack English language competency are exposed to one-year intensive English Prep Program.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Transfer Students:
The transfer student candidates from Turkish or foreign universities are subject to the YOK Legislation "The transfer, double degree, minor degree and inter-institutional credit transfer" and to the evaluation conditions determined by Dokuz Eylul University Senate.
The transfer quotas are determined and announced by Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK). The evaluation of the candidates are done by the school evaluation commmisin and approved by the management

The Graduate Transfers:
The short cycle graduates are given the right to be admitted to the first cycle programs if they comply with the conditions set by the "The transfer of Short Cycle Program Graduates to First Cycle Programs" Legilation of Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK)
The universities inform YOK regarding the quotas and YOK announces the quotas and conditions in "Graduate Transfer Guide" and the placements are managed by YOK due to the results of nationwide graduate transfer exam.

According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be
recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing
Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

4 years (excluding one year of English Preparatory School), 2 semesters per year, 16 weeks per semester, 240 ECTS in total.

Profile of the Programme

The aim of the Logistics Management Program is
to provide the logistics industry with logistics management professionals well - equipped with logistics, supply chain and transport related knowledge, skills and attitudes, enabling them to carry out research and/or offer services both nationally and internationally, rapid decision - making and critical thinking competencies, awareness about the global changes and ethical values, and consciousness about the importance of life- long learning.

Key Learning Outcomes

1   Adopts the competitive advantage dimension of logistics, supply chain and transportation in global economy
2   Embraces the role of logistics, supply chain and transportation in terms of decreasing costs and increasing customer service within the Turkish economy.
3   Leads the research methods in social sciences with regard to logistics, supply chain and transportation
4   Designs and implements modeling, simulation, optimization and other experimental designs in logistics, supply chain and transportation
5   Creates differentiation by increasing the current working environment standards beyond the quality system standards
6   Sets strategies, and transforms them into reports when asked, for the industry, taking into account the overall situation, bottlenecks and environmental impacts concerning the logistics, supply chain and transportation.
7   Actively gets involved in the national and international projects conducted by both private and public sectors on logistics, supply chain and transportation.
8   Takes initiative in the multidisciplinary team works on logistics, supply chain and transportation and proposes solutions to the problems encountered.
9   Acts in compliance with the requirements related with the professional standards, ethical responsibilities and work safety.
10   Conducts intra and interdisciplinary team works in the fields of logistics, supply chain and transportation and expresses his/her views written and/or orally based on his/her independent decision making competence.
11   Develops original outlooks and methods and innovative solutions in designing system, part or process in logistics, supply chain and transportation.
12   Develops skills in implementation control feedback and assessment cycle, creating new knowledge through information processing competencies in logistics, supply chain and transportation.
13   Develops his/her knowledge in the same or related fields into specialized level, based on her/his competencies in logistics, supply chain and transportation.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

With respect to the exams and course achievement grades, the related articles of Dokuz Eylul University, Associate Degree, Bachelors Degree Education and Examination Regulations and Education and Examination Regulations of Maritime Faculty are applied. The departments passing grade for a course is DD and the graduation grade is CC. Evaluation and assessment methods for each course which are included in the information package are defined in the Course Description Form prepared by the related lecturer/faculty member.

Graduation Requirements

The Bachelor's Degree is awarded to students who have successfully completed all courses and / or modules and interships in the curriculum and diploma project. The student must complete 4 years of study acquiring 240 (ECTS) credits and have a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 2 on a 4 scale and have got no failing grades.
