Course Objective

This course aims to provide students with knowledge of human resource management and an opportunity to examine the relevant HRM functions and practices of international firms in the logistics industry across different nations.
This course also explores the importance of international business management in the context of international human resource management. Topics include strategy, culture, compensation and benefits, performance, training and development, international industrial relations, and the legal and regulatory considerations that global logistics companies face.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   to provide an overview of human resources management and define its main functions.
2   to explain job design and job analysis, recruitment and selection processes, training, performance appraisal and career management processes, wage and personnel benefits, and HRM strategies in an international context.
3   to examine key issues affecting the HRM practices of logistics companies in the competitive environment.
4   to evaluate strategic human resources management.
