General Description

History

The Physical Education and Sports Doctorate Program, which was offered to be opened by our university on 05.10.2018, was examined at the Higher Education Executive Board meeting on 30/10/2018 and the proposal was approved. Physical Education and Sports Doctorate Program was officially opened on 16.11.2018.
The duration of the program is 8 semesters, of which 4 semesters are lectures and 4 semesters are thesis. The language of the program is Turkish.

Specific Admission Requirements

Second Cycle Degree in the same or in related disciplines. Acceptable score on ALES (Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Exam) or Equivalent GRE, GMAT score. Acceptable score on Language Proficiency Tests. Acceptable weighted score based on the first or second cycle (with thesis) cumulative grade point average (GPA) and ALES score. However, ALES requirement is waived for the graduates of doctorate /arts proficiency/medical residency/ dental residency/ veterinary residency/ pharmaceutical residency programs as well as for the admissions to the graduate programs offered by the Conservatory and the departments of Fine Arts Faculty, where students are admitted only by the Artistic Aptitude Test. Final admission is based on the evaluation of the related academic unit committee. International student admission requirements are decided by the Graduate School Executive Committee.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

According to Dokuz Eylul University Postgraduate Education Regulations, students are not admitted to the programs affiliated to the Institutes with lateral transfer. The student's application showing the course content and the transcript, the recommendation of the advisor, the opinion of the department chair and the institute management, based on the petition regarding which of the courses that the student took while enrolled in another university's graduate program and was successful after registering to the same graduate program in Dokuz Eylül, should be counted from the minimum course load. determined by the decision of the board. The courses taken by the students participating in the exchange programs from the host university are considered as elective or compulsory courses.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

In order to graduate from the program, it is necessary to take 78 ECTS courses (including seminars), 12 ECTS for specialization, and complete 150 ECTS thesis work. Must complete 240 ECTS credits in total. The minimum grade point average should be 2.50 /4.00 for each course.

Profile of the Programme

Physical Education and Sports Ph.D. program, physical education and sports teaching, coaching, recreation, sports management, sports psycho-social fields in order to make them more scientific and more productive, using knowledge, skills and technology with planning and development features effectively, and able to conduct scientific research and to train academicians and sports scientists who can plan education based on these research findings, follow scientific developments and use them in the professional and academic field.
In addition to postgraduate education, Doctoral Education complements advanced knowledge and techniques, research methods and skills in this field.
As a result, our aim is to attract people to sports, to raise awareness of the public and to create a sports culture in the society in our region, where we want sports to become widespread and to be carried out on more scientific grounds. and to train experienced sportsmen in practical studies.

12   To be able to understand the ethical value of sports and to develop appropriate behaviors that reflect scientific ethics.
13   To be able to explain and apply information about the use of various types of ergogenics in sports
14   To be able to explain and apply basic principles of adequate and balanced nutrition

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

The measurement and evaluation methods applied for each course are defined in the Course Description Form, which is prepared by the relevant faculty member/s and included in the Information package. DEU regarding exams and course grades. The relevant articles of the Associate Degree, Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations and the Institute's Teaching and Examination Practice Principles are applied. In order to be successful in the course, it is necessary to get at least 75.
