Course Objective

This course aims to teach some basic concepts related to the measurement and assessment of physical and physiological performance; theory and practice of field and laboratory tests applied to various age and performance groups.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Mass, power, work, speed, energy concepts and units
2 Validity and reliability of tests, their objectivity and practicality
3 Facilities for exercise tests, measurement theories, tracks, time measurement gadgets, ergonometers
4 Preparations before tests, prerequisites, tests procedures, appropriate warm-up and test protocol, laboratory equipment
5 Clinical exercise test, reasons for clinical finish, recovery period
6 Aerobic capacity tests, anaerobic treshold tests and norms (laboratory and field tests)
7 Strength tests (all tests including measuring isokinethic strength )
8 Anaerobic power and capacity tests and norms (laboratory, field tests)
9 Mid-term exam
10 Flexibility tests and norms
11 Agility tests and norms and new test
12 Blood pressure, ECG-EMG
13 Tests and norms for children, the young and the elderly
14 Balance and Eurofit test battery and norms
15 Tests specific to sports branch
16 Final exam
