Course Objective

This course will outline the intricate interplay of various elements of the immune system by the in depth view into several immune responses including infections.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   understand the characteristics of the initiation and termination of immune responses
2   understand the molecular basis by which the immune system identifies pathogens
3   understand the mechanisms by which the immune systems combats infections
4   understand and discuss how the interaction of various arms of the immune system is shaped by the challenge at hand
5   understand how pathogens undermine the immune system
6   understand how the immune response can `fail and aspects of therapeutic interventions
7   understand and discuss the elements and challenges of self/non-self discrimination
8   explore and discuss the clinical aspects of immunology through discussions of case studies
