Course Objective

It is targeted to learn the content and purposes of the rules concerning labour law by analyzing its concepts and regulations in a systematical method. In this manner, students may develop views and solutions on the application of labour law

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to determine the content of the labour legislation and its international sources
2   To be able to explain the functions of labour law regulations
3   To be able to connect the rules of labour law with present cases
4   To be able to examine current applications of labour law and judicial decisions
5   To be able to evaluate new proposals concerning current regulations
6   To be able to reach a synthesis of different labour law regulations related with each other

1 General Features and Historical Development of Labour Law National and International Sources of Labour Law
2 Employee, Apprentice, Employer, Employer' s Representative. Trade Union, Organization Levels of Trade Unions.
3 Subcontractor, Workplace, Opening, Closing and Transfer of a Workplace. Trade Union Right and Its Guarantees.
4 Application Area of the Labour Law. Establishment of Trade Unions and Their Organization.
5 Employment Contract and Its Features. Acquisition and Loss of Union Membership. Types of Employment Contract and Temporary Employment. Rights and Obligations of Union Members, Activities of Unions.

8 Obligations of the Employee. Collective Labour Agreements and Their Content Employer's Obligation to Pay Wages. Conclusion of Collective Labour Agreements. Employer s Obligation to Protect Employees and Not to Discriminate. Competence and Authorization to Conclude Collective Labour Agreements.
9 Occupational Health and Safety. Provisions of Collective Labour Agreements.Working Time. Area of Application of Collective Labour Agreements to Persons and in Time.
10 Compensatory Work and Short-Time Working. Area of Application of Collective Labour Agreements. Overtime Work. Interpretation, Execution and Invalidity of Collective Labour Agreements.
11 Rest Breaks, Weekly Rest Day, National Day and Public Holidays. Collective Labour Disputes and Types of Settlement.
12 Annual Leave with Pay. Mediation.Suspension of Employment Contracts. Voluntary and Compulsory Arbitration.
13 End of Employment Contract Other Than Dismissal. Strikes and General Framework of the Right to Strike. Termination of Employment Contract with Notice Periods. Conditions of a Legal Strike.
