Course Objective

The objective of this course is to discuss the social interaction process in tourism and probable problems caused by this interaction from religious tourism perspective, to examine the possible problems among the other actors in tourism system, to explain the conditions required for all parties to experience social interaction process without any problems and to acquire knowledge needed to solve these problems according to the principles of conflict management.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Understand the possible positive and negative impacts of social interaction on tourism industry
2   Recognize the basics of communication and interaction processes involving stakeholders in tourism system
3   Acquire required knowledge to generate practical solutions in relation to communication, interaction and conflict management
4   Comprehend social interaction and its results from sociological perspective and based on this comprehension interpret social relations and interactions in religious tourism
5   Interpret the impacts of group behavior and dynamics of group behavior on religious tourism

Assessment Criteria

Midterm: It will measure levels of students to extrapolate using knowledge acquired.
Assignment /Presentation: It will assess levels of students to make a comment, discuss and offer solution with a holistic approach and capabilities to transfer their knowledge.
Final Exam: It will measure level of students to correlate the concepts discussed during the course, to evaluate and discuss causality and relationships and to propose solutions.
