Course Objective

To provide student to understand the festivals of Indian religions in terms of faith tourism. The basic aims of the lectures are examining the importance, mythological origin, naming, and practices of festivals in the mentioned religions.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Students shall learn the social and psychological functions of the festivals in Hinduism.
2   Students shall learn the importance of vernal festival of Hinduism
3   Students shall learn Hindu autumn festivals.
4   Students shall learn the mythological origin of Hindu festivals.
5   Students shall learn the social and psychological functions of the festivals in Buddhism.
6   Students shall learn the importance and mythological origin of Buddhist festivals.
7   Students shall learn the Jain and Sikh festivals and their contents.
