Course Objective

The main purpose of this course is to examine family interactions and relationships in the social structure, to analyze the problems in family relationships, to identify the foundations behind the problems, to compare family relationships in different countries and to compare social counseling practices in family relations. In this context, students will see the basic structural changes in family interactions and relationships, determine strategies for analysis and have in-depth knowledge.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Will be able to look at the issue from a sociology perspective by distinguishing the family relations as a social reality and the visible forms of the family structure changing in parallel with this.
2   Will gain the ability to sociologically analyze the relationship and interaction problems within the family as a social problem, by seeing the relationships caused by their reflections on society.
3   Will gain the ability to interpret the changing family relations within the framework of theories and theorists within the framework of family theories, and will be able to look critically.
4   Will gain scientific competence in enlightening family structure, relationships and emerging problems, which are one of the reflection areas of the changing social structure.
5   To understand and explain the changes in family structure and relationships, the basic social problems created by this change, family counseling, and develop research projects, perspectives, concepts that will base them with a scientific point of view and gain scientific competence.
