Course Objective

The aim of the course is to introduce the terminology of medical texts either in source or in target language, and translate various medical texts into English and Turkish.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Students can analyze the texts on medicine and pharmacology in the terminological and textual levels.
2   Students can translate the medical terminology into Turkish and/or English.
3   Students can translate medical texts in different types and genres into Turkish and/or English.
4   Students can excel in finding solutions to terminological and stylistic problems encountered in the translation process.
5   Students can use effectively electronic or printed resources for medical translation.

Assessment Criteria

1. One midterm exam and one final exam will be given throughout the term.
2. Students are expected to come class translated the texts that are assigned to them weekly and to participate in class discussions and practices. Students are also expected to submit two homeworks based on invidual research.
