Course Objective

This course aims to introduce the genre of travelogues and its historical development and to discuss the necessary methods and terms with the students. The main activity of the course is to examine the basic characteristics of women travelers and to analyze the works of important women travelers.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To have knowledge about women travel writers.
2   To have a basic knowledge of some travel writing and gender based concepts
3   To be competent in textual analysis.
4   To be capable of using course's terminology.
5   To have a basic knowledge of theoretical approaches used in travel writing and to evaluate the differences between texts written by men and women.

Explaining the topic to students through interactive presentations and supporting it with visual materials, followed by in-depth analysis of the topic through student discussions.
