Course Objective

The aim of the course is to study legal, ideological and traditional backgrounds of system of nations, and its establishement in Ottoman society from Mohammed s period to Tanzimat.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   know discussions on origin of Ottoman system of nations
2   get information about establishment of system of nations as an imperial idea from Mohammed s period and then
3   know political, socia and legal forms of Ottoman system of nations
4   analyze Tanzimat reforms and mental changes in system of nations
5   evaluate modernism and nationalism in system of nations
6   understand causes of transformation from nations to religious minority
