Course Objective

The aim of the course is to present an evaluation of single party period in Turkey about its social support, particularities, general characteristics and objectives in comparison with those in other countries.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   know borders and sources of the single party regime in Turkey
2   understand social and democratic background taken from the Ottoman Empire
3   explain tries made to establish substracture of democracy in early years of the Republic
4   study democratization process of Turkey in comparison with those in the West
5   analyze causes of problems of democracy lived in early years of the Republic
6   evaluate single party regime in Turkey in comparison with those in Europe and in the World
