Course Objective

This course will discuss the influential philosphers on theories in museum and cultural heritage studies and the concepts and theories that they formulated. Concepts like globalisation, locality, colonialisation, memory, experience and performance will be examined within the context of museum studies with relevant theories.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To understand the interdisciplinary interaction between the field of Museology and other fields.
2   To establish relations between museology and cultural processes.
3   To develop a critical view towards Museology and Cultural Heritage Studies.
4   Familiarity with theories of art and culture.
