Course Objective

To ensure the students understand what linguistics is, to teach the students which subjects are studied under the name of linguistics and the terminology of linguistics.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To understand the field of linguistics and other including subject, to use its terminology
2   to describe the universal features of languages and Turkish in terms of linguistics.
3   To keep up with the theoretical and applied studies in the field of linguistics, to comment on them and make some suggestions about studies
4   To determine the place of linguistics among the other sciences.
5   To know variant linguistics schools: Prague, Copenhagen Linguistics School, American Constructivism, Russian Formalists etc.
