Course Objective

To understand the social positions, roles, division of labor and worlds of meaning constructed through femininity and masculinity in modern societies and the cultural, political and economic dimensions and intersectionality of the relations established through these categories.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Understand the importance of gender as a field of research
2   To comprehend the theoretical approaches to the social positions established through femininity and masculinity in modern societies
3   To understand how women and men are positioned in social stratification systems and power sharing
4   To be able to analyze how gendered definitions, division of labor and worlds of meaning are constructed
5   To understand how the roles of femininity and masculinity are distributed and the effects of these roles on the socialization of individuals
