Course Objective

The aim of this course is to introduce the students to varios definitions of museology as an academic field, its historical development, its changing functions and its interactions with other academic fields (Archaeology, Fine Arts and Natural Sciences) by giving a number of examples and cases.

1   Students apprehend the historical dvelopment of Museology
2   Students acquire knowledge about the changing functions of museums
3   Students apprehend the interactions among the field of museology and other fields.
4   Students get accustomed to theoretical and practical aspects of museology
5   Students apprehend the principles of museology such as classification, recording and storage
