Course Objective

In this course, the publications produced by different museums selected from the world and our country in order to inform the public and visitors about their activities will be examined in detail. Information will be given about the preparation and content of promotional publications such as posters, announcements, news, as well as annual reports, reports, bulletins showing the performance of the museum. In addition, scientific catalogs, periodicals, and books that are about the artifacts in the museum and contribute to the promotion of the museum will be discussed within the scope of this course.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Understanding the importance of museum publications in announcing and promoting the activities that can be done in museums and scientific studies
2   To be informed about the content and examples of brochures, bulletins and posters related to the promotion of the museum and the works in its collection
3   To have knowledge about the types, content and preparation of museum publications and to recognize different examples and applications
4   Gaining knowledge and skills to create publication policies of museums
