Course Objective

Ensuring knowledge about the scope of labor law, types of employment contract, termination of the employment contract, severance pay, collective labor law to the students.
Giving basic knowledge about the Labour Act No. 4857, trade unions act no. 2927, social insurance act no 5510.
Giving information about social security, development of it in Türkiye and basic components of social security system.
Ensuring knowledge about legislation of unemployment and public health insurance and insurance of Occupational Accidents and Occupational Diseases.
Ensuring knowledge of students' rights arising from the labour and social security law at working life.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Having knowledge on what labor law is about, its general principles and scope of it.
2   Having knowledge about how and in what way labour contract is done and how contractsi are ended.
3   Having knowledge about legislation and obligation of social insurance.
4   Having knowledge about In which cases severance pay is entitled.
5   Having knowledge about collective labour law as the unions, collective labour agreements and concepts of strike and lock-out.

Success evaluation is calculated by taking 40% of the midterm exam and 60% of the final exam.

Assessment Criteria

With midterm exam and final exam, students' level of understanding of learning outcomes will be evaluated.
