Course Objective

The objective of Turkish Language Course is to enable the comprehension of the structural and operational features of Turkish; and to enable the acquisition of the proper and fine use of the language which is a means of written and spoken expression.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to explain the features of language and its importance in human and social life.
2   To be able to explain the connection between language and culture.
3   To be able to explain the place of Turkish among the languages around the world.
4   To be able to explain the information about the historical periods of Turkish.
5   To be able to have a more sensitive and conscious point of view towards language.
6   To be able to explain the phonetic structure and features of Turkish.
7   To be able to explain the characteristics of corporate writing and correspondence types and to create such articles.
8   To be able to explain the features of scientific and academic writing and to create such kinds of articles.

4 Historical periods of the Turkish I (From the Beginning to the Middle Turkish Period)
5 Historical periods of the Turkish II (Middle Turkish Period)
6 Historical periods of the Turkish III (New and Modern Turkish Periods)
7 The current state of Turkish and geographical distribution of different dialects
8 Mid-term exam
9 Phonetics of Turkish
10 Spelling rules of Turkish
11 Punctuation marks of Turkish
12 The basics of written expression / Corporate writing and correspondence types
13 Scientific / academic writing I
14 Scientific / academic writing II
