Course Objective

This course aims to examine the tension between the prospective aspects of Renaissance Culture in relation with the retreospective character of Renaissance philosopy. Accordingly, we will be discussing the relationship between Renaissance philosophy and modern philosophy & culture.

1   to understand the Renaissance Culture
2   to understand the main problems of Renaissance Philosophy
3   to examine the relationship between philosophical thought and social and cultural context
4   to develop students skills of critical reading.
5   to employ the historical perspective to analyze philosophical texts.
