Course Objective

This course will introduce the student to group psychotherapy with didactic presentations. Various group psychotherapy techniques will be briefly introduced (psychodynamic, existential, client centered approaches to groups, T.A. groups, Gestalt groups, psychodrama, behavioral group therapy, etc.).

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Be able to describe group psychotherapy and its basic characteristics.
2   Be able to discuss similarities and differences between group therapy and individual therapy
3   Be able to describe basic concepts and properties of different group therapy formats
4   Be able to dıscuss basic concepts and properties of different group therapy formats
5   Be able to compare various group therapy formats
6   Be able to explain situations in which group therapy is used and advantages and disadvantages of using this therapy format
