Offered to

Laboratory Animal Science

Course Objective

By this course, it is aimed to gain the students theoretical information about risks that they may encounter and precautions that they should take generally in all laboratories and especially in animal laboratories; to assimilate basic information about biosafety and occupational safety; and to apply these information in every stage of their studies in the laboratory

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to examine the laboratory environment about biological, physical, chemical and radiological risks that they may encounter in experimental animal laboratories.
2   To be able to apply, theoretically gained information about good microbiological techniques (GMT) in every stage of their daily studies.
3   To be able to make risk analysis for experimental animal laboratories, to be able to question the working environment and to be able to detect the necessary precaution within the framework of this analysis
4   To be able to assimilate theoretically gained information about separation and disposal of laboratory wastes
5   To be able to understand his/her rights about occupational health and safety
