Course Objective

To provide information to the students about the general assessment principles of locomotory system disorders, results analysis and gain the skills of outcome interpretation.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   By the end of the module students will be able to get an anamnesis, and perform inspection, palpation, percussion and auscultation
2   By the end of the module students will be able to perform a general physiotherapy assessment and analysis of an orthopaedic patient.
3   By the end of the module students will be able to perform a general physiotherapy assessment and analysis of a patient with upper extremity orthopaedic problem.
4   By the end of the module students will be able to perform a general physiotherapy assessment and analysis of a patient with lower extremity orthopaedic problem.
5   By the end of the module students will be able to perform a general physiotherapy assessment and analysis of a patient with spinal orthopaedic problem.

1 Get an anamnesis from orthopaedic patients
2 Inspection, palpation, percussion, auscultation
3 Neurological assessment (muscle test, pain, sensation and reflexes)
4 Joint range of motion and anthropometric assessments
5 Posture and muscle shortness assessments
6 Gait and balance assessment
7 ADL and functional level assessment
8 Assessment of orthopaedic problems of shoulder
9 Assessment of orthopaedic problems of shoulder
10 Assessment of orthopaedic problems of elbow
11 Assessment of orthopaedic problems of wrist and hand
12 Assessment of orthopaedic problems of spine
13 Assessment of orthopaedic problems of hip
14 Assessment of orthopaedic problems of knee and foot
