Course Objective

The aim of this course is to provide a deep knowledge of central concepts, theories, and methodologies about the relationships between social world and person. It focuses on human behavior and the organization of the society guided by the assumption that human behavior is shaped by the groups to which person belongs and the social forces external to person. This course examines its history, essential concepts, major theories, research methods, and applications that exemplify the sociological way of thinking and analysis. It presents an opportunity to understand usefulness of sociological imagination in making sense of everyday life and to apply it to the social world.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Identify sociological perspectives, concepts and theories.
2   describe how society shape what people do, how they do it and how they understand what other people do
3   develop greater understanding of and tolerance for individuals from other social and cultural backgrounds.
4   examine social topics critically, making connections between them and learning to formulate critical questions.
5   Have the ability to apply the knowledge to the process of everyday life by making connections person and society.
