Course Objective

Is to gain knowledge and skills on defining common hand and upper extremity pathologies, physical therapy assessments and rehabilitation approaches for these pathologies.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Knows anatomy and biomechanics of hand and upper extremity
2   Defines hand and upper extremity pathologies
3   Understands basic principles of hand and upper extremity rehabilitation
4   Assesses hand and upper extremity
5   Plan and conduct specific rehabilitation for hand and upper extremity pathologies
6   Syntheses information related to the topic and presents the outcomes orally and visually

4 Phalanges, metacarpal and carpal fractures
5 Distal radius fractures
6 Congenital brachial plexus palsy
7 Rehabilitation of peripheral nevre injuries
8 Tendon transfers and physical therapy
9 Wounds and burns in hand
10 Arthritis and other rheumatic problems (synovitis/tenosynovitis) and physical therapy
11 Upper extremity nerve entrapments-compressions
12 Subacromial impingement syndrome
13 Flexor tendon injuries
14 Extensor tendon injuries
