Course Objective

The aim of this course is to examine concepts such as art, craft, culture, creativity, etc. in aesthetic context and to reveal the changes of art and aesthetic concepts in the history process and the reflection of social life.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Define the concepts of art, craft and aesthetics. 2   Explain the scientific bases of esthetic. 3   Explain the importance and necessity of art education. 4   Evaluate the aesthetics of everyday life in the historical process. 5   Explain art and aesthetic theories.

Week Subject Description 1 Introduction to art concept. 2 Relation between art and education, the importance and necessity of art education. 3 Aesthetic concept. 4 Art-craft relationship. 5 Art and aesthetic theories (Reflective Theory - Lecturer Theory). 6 Art and aesthetics theories (Emotional Effect Theory - Formal Theory). 7 Turkish-Islamic art and aesthetics. 8 Art in the pre-modern period. 9 Modern and post-modern art. 10 Art and social context. 11 The position of arts and craftsmen in the process of social change. 12 Contemporary art understandings and aesthetics.
