Course Objective

The aim of the course is teaching natural stones used by ancient civilizations. To make it possible for students to realize the shown sample applications to adapt today. As a result, realizing and designing the right applications of natural stones in todays architecture.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Using natural stone in Ancient period and Roman period and learning natural Stone arts in these periods.
2   To realize stones used in Seljuk period and their applications
3   To realize stones used in Ottoman period and their applications
4   To define arthitectural building types and Stone applications
5   To define criterias for chhosing Stone coating and their properties in flooring, aspect, wall, steps and other application fields

This lecture will be processed theoritically in class. Teaching staff will give the subjects by using slides, will discuss with students by asking and answering and will give term works for a better understanding of subjects
