Course Objective

The aim of this course is to gain information about the properties, the production processes and the application areas of the natural and chemical fibers.

1 Definition and classification of textile fibers, production and consumption amounts of fibers in Türkiye and the World
2 Molecular structure of textile fibers and the effect of fiber properties on the finished product
3 Cotton fiber; physical and chemical properties, cotton harvesting, gining and standardisation
4 Flax fiber and other vegetable fibers; physical and chemical properties
5 Wool fiber; physical and chemical properties
6 Other animal fibers; physical and chemical properties
7 Other animal fiber; physical and chemical properties
8 Mid-Term Exam
9 Definition of chemical fiber and general terms, polymers and their properties
10 Types of polymerization, principles and methods of fiber spinning
11 Take up units and drawing, cutting of fibers, definition and classification of regenerated fibers and their usage areas
12 Regenerated cellulosic and regenerated protein fibers; production methods and properties
13 Definition and classification of synthetic fibers and their usage areas
14 Classification of polyamide fibers. Production methods and properties of polyamide fibers.
15 Polyester fibers; production methods and properties
16 Final Exam
