Course Objective

The aim of this course is to teach alternative energy sources that may be the solution to the world's energy problems and effects of their usage on the environment to students.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to define energy and energy sources.
2   To be able to specify alternative energy sources according to their properties.
3   To be able to explain mainly production technologies of alternative energy sources.
4   To be able to specify the application areas of alternative energy sources.
5   To be able to explain effects of alternative energy sources on the environment.

2 Solar energy, properties and production technology of solar energy and its availability as an alternative energy source
3 Wind energy, properties and production technology of wind energy and its availability as an alternative energy source
4 Geothermal energy, properties and production technology of geothermal energy and its availability as an alternative energy source
5 Wave energy, properties and production technology of wave energy and its availability as an alternative energy source
6 Tide energy, properties and production technology of wave energy and its availability as an alternative energy source
7 Hydraulic energy, properties and production technology of hydraulic energy and its availability as an alternative energy source
8 Mid-Term Exam
