Course Objective

1. How they can make arrangements for different textile branches on the computer in the processes (textile report design, separation of the hues, variant) before printing.
2. How they can convert the digital visuals to a product in accordance with the textile printing techniques (silk, rotation, digital) and teaching students the relation between the production and design.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to make designs for the different textile groups by using the software Adobe Photoshop on the computer.
2   To understand the relation between the design and production processes.
3   To make report designs on the computer considering the mass production machines and the specialties of templates being used on them.
4   To be able to separate of the single hue of the colours files on the computer.
5   To be able to analyze the textile designs (how many colours will be used, its report, variants, choosing the templates) and to realize what kind of printing silk, scraper, fabric etc. are the most suitable for the printing.
6   To be able to set up variants considering the technical specifications (rotation, filmdruck, digital) of the printing machines.

2 Processes of the pre-printing arrangements, general work stream, conventional methods and the computer aid practices
3 Descriptions of the repeatable textile design, report techniques, theoretical lesson on the relation between industrial textile printing machines and textile report application on the computer
4 Computer aided half drop practices
5 Computer aided soter drop practices
6 Converting the handwork designs to digital files and making them repeatable for textile printing on computer
7 Converting the handwork designs to digital files and making them repeatable for textile printing on computer
8 Description of colour separation, theoretical lesson on the relation between industrial textile machines and colour separation, single hue applications on the computer
9 Description of textile variant, theoretical lesson on the relation between industrial textile machines and textile variant and variant applications on computer
10 Creating home textile design on the computer for mass production and dressing them up on the models.
11 Creating clothing design on the computer for mass production and dressing them up on the models.
12 Making arrangements for the chosen design before printing.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1. Lessons
The teaching assistant introduces the software Adobe Photoshop and practically teaches the aesthetical and technical phases (report, separation of the single hues, variants) of the textile design by using the visual and written sources.

2. Applications
Students make textile designs for mass production on a specific theme of a project considering the physical conditions of the printed items and the methods of printing style and a chosen design s pre-printing phases are practiced on the computer in the workroom.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

Performance evaluation of the students will be according to ability of using software, carrying out pre-printing phases on the computer, making mass production designs fit for the purpose and make them suitable for producing and according to printing, design, aesthetic, technical success.

Assessment Criteria

Credits that will be achieved from student s participation: 1 credit can be achieved from participation to the lessons, 2 credits from the quality of the answers given by student to the questions asked by teaching assistant and their performance in the class, 3 credits for the contribution from the student to create a positive atmosphere in the class.

Course Policies and Rules

1. Taking part in the 80% of the lessons is compulsory.
2. All kind of plagiarization or attempting to it end up with disciplinary punishment.
3. Not participating in the lesson and late delivery of the projects will be not considered as an excuse.
4. One letter grade will be removed per day for each late project delivery.
