Course Objective

Teaching woven fabric production methods. Teaching woven fabric production calculations and preparing a woven fabric production order. Teaching the fabric analysis method in practice for the reproduction of a given fabric sample. Teaching how to make an original fabric design consistent with technological conditions and usage purpose. Teaching the analysis of the designs of simple, figured and double-layered woven fabrics according to physical and aesthetic goals, and the determination of their structural properties and production parameters according to the results, both with in-class sample analysis and homeworks.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To gain the ability to plan fabric design and production process according to woven fabric production methods
2   To gain the ability to make weaving calculations for the production of woven fabric and to prepare the production order
3   To gain the ability to analyze the structural and technological factors affecting the woven fabric design
4   To gain the ability to analyze according to the targeted aesthetic and physical properties and constraints of the fabric for an original fabric design.
5   To gain ability to restablish relationships between aesthetic, physical and technological factors in woven fabric design
