Course Objective

It aims to provide the usage of informatics technologies in design and production of fashion accessories products; to carry out production stages (CAM) and visualization by modeling (CAD), material coating and lighting functions of 3D computer software directed to fashion accessories product groups in accordance with design criterion.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to use computer technologies in transition from design to manufacturing of fashion accessories product groups.
2   To be able to apply the theoretic information about computer technologies in fashion accessories product design
3   To be able to follow innovative directed to computer aided design
4   To be able to use computer software in design of product groups related to his/her area
5   To be able to make and present design in accordance with design criterion in fashion accessories products design
6   To be able to transform creative and unique ideas into design by using computer technologies and to be able to solve problems

Course Contents

1 Informing about the methods of design (CAD) and manufacturing (CAM) with the support of informatics technologies in fashion and accessories product groups.
2 3D modeling, introduction of the program in 3D Studiomax design program / 1. Explaining purpose, context and period of the Project
3 Introduction of toolbar in 3D Studiomax design program and practices / control of project s research period
4 3D Studiomax 3D design program training / Control of project s sketch period
5 Modeling the project designs in 3D Studiomax program
6 Modeling the project designs in 3D Studiomax program
7 Evaluation the Project (1st project)
8 II. Presentation of the Project: Information about research, sketch and modeling period.
9 Evaluation research results, preparing sketch phase directed to project s aim and concept.
10 Modeling the project designs in 3D Studiomax program
11 Modeling the project designs in 3D Studiomax program

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1. Information about computer software is provided within the scope of course, information of designing, visualization and presentation of fashion accessories products design in terms of using this software is given.

2. Initiative of the Project, which is given within concept of the course (name of the Project, its aim, Schedule of the Project, requests during project period) is carried out.

3. Research (from base to partial), sketch, design with the support of computer software (CAD), visualization and prototype production stage (CAM) are performed during the assigned Project.

4. By the end of the Project, designs, which planning and visualization are prepared by the support of computer software, are evaluated with a jury, in which other educators also participated along with the control that process is performed in a correct way and the designs are innovative, creative, unique and they confirm with the Project. In the evaluation phase, there are research, sketch files and design sheets.

Evaluation will be performed by considering below;
1. The student should design innovative, unique, creative fashion accessories products complying with the aim of the Project within the time provided for Project,
2. The student should do required researches directed to the subject of the Project,
3. The student should prepare sketches in accordance with the concept directed to project subject for the data obtained as a result of research
4. The student should prepare the visualization of the chosen sketches by the support of 3D computer software in computer environment (3D design, material coating, and lightning) and he/she also should perform their presentation.
5. Bringing research and sketch files, design sheets and product prototype during jury evaluation and their defense by the student.

Course Policies and Rules

1. Attendance to 80% of classes is compulsory.
2. All kinds of plagiarizing attempt results in actual disciplinary punishment.
3. The student is obliged to prepare the Project in accordance with design principles and complying with the aim, period and Schedule of the Project. The student, who completes the Project successfully by attending the classes, gets a passing grade.
