Course Objective |
The aim of this course is to have the students gain knowledge about the history of Turkish Art of Illumination in the light of the present samples; and to have them realize original designs by analysing the colour, technique and composition features of the previous samples having different styles and belonging different periods. ( In particular, the illuminations, in the zahriye, serlevha, surebaşı, hatime, etc. seen in Mushaf ( the Koran ) writings, will be samples for original designs.) |

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods |
Every student will determine the writings, in particular Mushaf writings, in domestic and overseas museums and libraries. These writings will be catalogued and researched deeply. The students will use the data in their original designs. It is essential for the students to use the knowledge in their designs to show their ability. |

Further Notes About Assessment Methods |
This course is both theoretical and practical with 2 credits for each. In the educational period, the students will be given a mid-term and a final to have them comprehend the subjects in the lessons. In these exams, the subjects given in the lessons will be examined to see how much they have been apprehended and how the practises related to the designs have been turned into ability. Moreover, the students are asked to prepare a homework on the subjects they have gained, and present them. |
Assessment Criteria |
The exams will be evaluated out of 100 in accordance with the number of the questions. The students will be informed about the value of each question before the exam. The grade will be determined in accordance with the answers. Project evaluation, homework presentation and attendance will evaluated out of 100. |

Course Policies and Rules |
The students coming into the class late will be admitted but accepted half-attended. All attendance will be evaluated by the rate mentioned above. At the end of each lesson, the students are informed about the following lesson s subject as a research subject. So, the lessons start with these researches and discussions. |
