Course Objective

The aim of this course is to teach the students to study the composition patterns, the origin of patterns, their usages and history used in regional carpets as well as field study, comparison, browsing the literature and analyzing the patterns by separating them into parts, using related techniques, and then presenting their studies as a report.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   classify the composition patterns of carpets of a particular region,
2   know the carpet patterns of a particular region,
3   be informed of the usage and history of patterns used in a particular region,
4   have the knowledge of studying the origin of patterns used in a particular region,
5   report a study based on visual resources,
6   use the information techniques during while studying.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The instructor asks the students to prepare a project on pattern analysis of carpets of a certain time or/and region. During project study, the student presents the data he has gathered. The data are discussed in the lessons, and the student goes on his study using the necessary techniques. At the end of the project, the data is synthesized and written as a report, and the results are assessed.
