Course Objective

Knowing the structure of the gene, which is one of the basic building blocks of genetics, and using this information in all fields related to genes are of priority. For this reason, firstly, it is aimed to understand the structure and functioning of the gene. Afterwards, it is aimed to give basic information about the principles of the tests used for diagnostic purposes, why, where and how to use them in studies to be carried out on the gene.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1	Learning the basic building blocks of the genome, DNA, replication, RNA, transcription and their related basic building blocks
2	Learning the structure of the gene, the structure of the genetic code and the regulation mechanisms of the gene
3	Understanding of genetic testing techniques used in clinical diagnostic laboratory applications
4	Gain knowledge about genetics tests used in clinical diagnosis
5	Understanding the fundamentals of genetics tests used in cancer and DNA based tissue typing
