Course Objective

To exhibit relationship of two disciplines of orthopaedics and bioengineering and to perform their applications in orthopaedics by covering common working areas of these two disciplines.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To get knowledge about orthopaedics devices and equipments.
2   To cover clinical orthopaedics in terms of bioengineering area.
3   To have information of structures like bone and cartilage tissue.
4   To able to use bioengineering devices and equipments related to orthopaedics.
5   To know ethic concepts.

1 Introduction to orthopaedic materials Concept of Biomedical Material Tissue Engineering Products: Patents, Rules and Recent Developments Polymers used for biomedical purpose; natural polymers, synthetic polymers; and their area of utilization Techniques used in biomaterial production Description, Classification and Criteria of Biomaterials
2 Covering of Biological orthopaedic materials in term of mechanics, tensile of materials and strain Biomechanics, Bioinstrumentation, Biomaterial Engineering analysis examples and design applied to issues in primary areas related to biotechnology Introducing problems waiting for solutions of research areas related to bioengineering Technological requirements, design method science
