Course Objective |
The aim of this course is to inform the students about the Ottoman and Iran Miniature styles, to introduce the traditional and modern miniature materials and application techniques. We also aim to have these materials and techniques applied in an original composition, by choosing a subject. |

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods |
In this course, the students are supposed to be informed of the frequently used composition types by learning the styles used in Ottoman and Iran miniature art. After introducing the related sources published before, the instructor will guide the students to get the visual materials related to Iran miniatures, especially the ones in the Safavid Dynasty period. The traditional and modern materials, such as paper, paint and the others will be introduced so that the students could use them in their original applications, and that they could apply a story belonging to Ottoman period originally. The instructor will try to have the students make out a composition and discuss the designs. During the designing stage, the discussions on the sketches and compositions will be realized in the first and last lessons every week by the instructor. |

Further Notes About Assessment Methods |
This course involves 2 theoretical course credits; and 2 practical course credits. The students can learn the application techniques by following the lesson as those techniques are introduced one to one. The students effort and skill at applying the techniques will be observed and evaluated as well as the visual resource and sketches they are going to prepare. After the studies in the term, the students will illustrate a story belonging to Ottoman period in miniature style; this presentation will make up the main evaluation. |

The project, assignment presentation and attendance will be evaluated out of 100. |

Course Policies and Rules |
After the theoretical information is given both orally and written, the practical studies are done one to one with the students. The attendance is compulsory for the lesson in which a new technique will be introduced. The students will be informed about the following lesson and are supposed to make preliminary research on the subject. |
