Course Objective

The aim of this course is to teach the students to apply the drawing and painting techniques of classic, halkar, baroque, rococa styles in the Illumination Art in the areas of 5x5 or 10x10; and also to teach the usage of motifs, free and symmetric, such as zencerek, rumi,bulut, semi-styled or naturalist flowers in the composition of inside casing.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   learn the illumination principles in Illumination Art,
2   gain knowledge and experience about the applications made in accordance with the illumination design styles,
3   have enough technical knowledge in transition from design to production,
4   solve the problems in techniques, materials and compositions used in illumination art,
5   have cultural and artistic accumulation about his field.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

In this course, the styles and techniques used in Turkish Illumination Art will be presented by applying drawing and painting techniques on a piece of paper. Samples of different styles will be shown in slides.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

In this course, the styles and techniques used in Turkish Illumination Art will be presented by applying drawing and painting techniques on a piece of paper. Samples of different styles will be shown in slides.

Assessment Criteria

Exams will be evaluated out of 100. This grade will be determined according to the number of the questions to be asked in the exams. And also, the project, the assignment presentation and the attendance will be evaluated out of 100.

Course Policies and Rules

The students coming to class late will be accepted into the class but are considered to attend half class period. All attendance will be scored as mentioned above. At the end of each course, the next lesson s subject is given to the students as study and research subject. Each lesson starts after discussing the study and research subject before teaching it.
