Course Objective

First we aim to have the students create their own patterns by using the knitting techniques and derivations used in fabrics. Afterwards, we will help them to weave their patterns on dobby weaving loom using the threads and materials they have chosen.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1. Learn the basic knitting and derivations of weaving
2   2. Eliminate the difference of basic knitting used in woven fabric
3   3. Draw the basic knitting and derivations that they are going to use in weaving
4   4. Learn how to prepare the pattern and colour report in accordance with the capacity of the loom
5   5. After drawing the pattern, learn how to plan weaving draft and armure before weaving
6   6. Comprehend the importance of the basic and supplementary movements in the course of weaving

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

In the lesson, It is necessary for the students to eliminate the difference of basic knitting and derivations by examining previously made woven fabrics.

Assessment Criteria

In accordance with the aim of the course, It is necessary for the students to learn what kind of knitting has been used while manufacturing the fabric, and to understand the reason of the textural differences of these knittings. 40 % of the midterm exam passes with the 60 % of the final.
