Course Objective

The aim of this course is develop the ability of the students about preparing designs suitable for machine-woven carpet techniques, a certain location or style.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Make carpet designs suitable for machine-woven carpet techniques,
2   get information about current home decoration trends and use them by interpreting,
3   make carpet designs suitable for a certain location or style,
4   organize and adapt the designs in electronic enviroment and colourize them,
5   present the prepared designs effectively.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Lecturer repeats informations to the students as interactive about machine-weaving carpet manufacturing techniques. A project work is given to the students for creating a carpet collection according to a certain location or style. Students do research based on certain criteria theoreticaly and visualy according current trends about color, texture, pattern, output port makes research. Obtained data throughout the project and sketches are evaluated in the classroom. Sketches, which have requared features, are ready for production, colorized and varied on computer. Collection printouts with project file that contains the project process are evaluated before a jury.

Success in the course is evaluated based on 70% project and 30% participation in the course.

Assessment Criteria

The evaluation of the project is done in accordance with the originality, the harmony between the designs and the location, the easiness of the composition, colour choice, the content of the project file, representation and the argument of the project.
Attendance is evaluated in accordance with the instructor's opinion by considering the student's attendance and in-class performance.

80% attendance is compulsory.
The students will be in class at the time of the lesson.
