Course Objective

The aim of the course to prepare students for courses that are related to the traditional textile arts and designs in the four years of B.A. Hons. Education. This semester's work is practice-oriented.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To have required basic knowledge on traditional Turkish textiles
2   To be able to describe the styles of decorative motifs in traditional textiles
3   To create motifs from objects
4   the ability to create borders, compositions from the motifs
5   the ability to design motifs in accordance with carpet, rug, fabric printing techniques

Study sources will differ according to the example that students prefer to work on. Fort his reason, students will first carry out a bibliographic research.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

In the course, after scanning the the literature and visual data related to the geographical area of work, fabric printing techniques and printing design rules will be analyised and original designs will be carried out accordingly.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

The evaluation of the course is made according to 60% Project, 40% student's performance in class and extracurricular. In the evaluation criteria, the student's work in accordance with the subject given in the design stages and his success in reflecting the design into practice will be taken into consideration.

Assessment Criteria

All the work carried out by the student will be evaluated as a single Project, to be presented to a jury. Student's performance during presentation and his/her work will be evaluated seperately.
In the study, the student's participation in the lesson and the performance of the project outside the classroom will be examined.
