Course Objective

When the examples of calligraphy are examined, it is seen that Celi Sülüs type of writing has a lot of application areas. Slab tradition has been used frequently in religious and civil architecture, and examples of fixed disciplines on different materials such as stone, wood, metal and fabric will be examined. The tradition of writing celi has developed as a different discipline in time and has reached the level of becoming a school among calligraphers. One of the schools that have gained the Turkish character is to comprehend the comprehension of Celi Sülüs's works, learning the anatomy of letters, the aesthetic elements of the ink and the aesthetic elements of the ink, and making new designs.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To define and write structure of letters at least in one writing style in Turkish calligraphy art
2   To predict the product version of their designs
3   To define and apply the principles and techniques of unique design in Turkish calligraphy art
4   To solve the problems in transition of designs to products
5   To be able to make at least 2 unique designs in Turkish calligraphy art.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

After searching of literature and visual materials of the region which is going to be studied in this course, unique designs which lead students to show their writing technique and skills will be prepared.

All work done by the student will be evaluated as a project and will present his work in front of the jury. The performance and work done in the presentation will be evaluated separately.

Assessment Criteria

Due to the different subjects that students choose, they will scan and search recourses in order to their special subjects

Course Policies and Rules

attendance must be 80% *in 15 days before the end of the semester, a list of attendance will be announced and the projects of students who fail from attendance will not be evaluated.
*Students who come to class 5 min late can attend the class. Who come to class late more than 5 mins can not attend the class or they be counted as absent
* At the end of the classes, the subject of next class is announced to students as research subject. Students come to next class prepared
*if the students have medical report, these days are counted as not attended
