Course Objective

The aim of this course is to provide students with; Ceramics - To learn primers and application methods used in tile production, oxides and oxides that give color, paints used in tiles and ceramics, paint production and types, glazes and glaze preparation stages, porcelain and industrial mud.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Students will be able to learn Primer and its types, priming methods,
2   To be able to recognize oxide types and coloring oxides,
3   To be able to learn the paint structures and types used in tiles and ceramics.
4   To be able to learn the types of glaze, glaze preparation, glazing methods,
5   It is expected to be able to recognize porcelain, foundry mud and other industrial muds.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

In this course, the subjects within the program will be taught theoretically in the laboratory with students participation. Furthermore, when necessary, students will be able to see the materials visually.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

Because of being a theoretical course, we will make use of lecture notes and resources. Also, the students will prepare a research project about the life and works of a tile or ceramics artist.

Assessment Criteria

Mid term, the project and the final exam will be considered in evaluation.

Due to its being a theoretical course, at the end of each lesson students will be asked to give a knowledge recycle about the lesson. So, the students will always concentrate on the lesson. Participations will be evaluated according to the criteria mentioned above. The next lesson s subject will be given to the students so that they will make preliminary preparation.
