Course Objective

The aim of the course is to teach students how to use a vector-based design program for projects, research and presentations of Traditional Turkish Arts Department students.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Be informed about the manner of work of vector-based and pixel-based programs also 3D ( Three dimensional ) design programs.
2   be informed of the functions of a vector-based design program's tools and menus,
3   Able to draw a motif on a vector-based design program.
4   Able to create and edit compositions on a vector-based design program.
5   Able to draw scaled plans on a vector-based design program.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The instructor introduces the students the working principles of the programs to be used for research and project preparations, the differences among programs, the functions of menus and instruments by means of Traditional Turkish Crafts Department projects, and he expects the students to do the same applications.

The course is conducted online. The lecturer uploads the lecture videos containing theoretical and practical information to the system every week, and the students are asked to watch these lessons, repeat the applications on their own computers, and upload the given homework to the homework link on a weekly basis. The lecturer evaluates these assignments and gives feedback. In addition, online lessons are opened every week during class hours and students are helped with applications that they cannot do in video lessons or homework, and their questions are answered.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

Course evaluation is done with midterm (30%), homework (30%), class participation (10%), final (30%) and make-up exams. In homework and participation in the lesson, the performance of the student against the lesson is evaluated with the completion and content of the homework given to the student at the end of the applications in the lesson. Midterm, final and make-up exams are applied practically and similar applications are asked in the lessons.

Assessment Criteria

Evaluation of the course is made according to homework (80%) and class participation (20%) criteria. At the end of the practices in the course, it is checked whether the homework given to the student and whether the content meets the examples made in the course. Attendance to the lesson, the student's performance against the lesson, the student's attendance to the lesson, his homework and his efforts are evaluated.
