Course Objective

The course aims to supply the student with information on art jewellery which has emerged and developed in 20th century along with the new jewellery concept and information on jewellery works of 21st century artists/designers. The course also aims the student to have ability to set the concept and design the pieces of a unique art jewellery collection proposal and experiment new materials and production techniques accordingly.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1. As an out come of this course; the student is expected to have information on new jewellery concept which has emerged in 20th century and the transformation of jewellery perception
2   2. To have knowledge on art jewellery of 21st century
3   3. To analyse the concept, materials and production techniques of artists /designers jewellery works of 21st century
4   4. To have ability to set the concept and design the pieces of a unique art jewellery collection proposal and experiment new materials and production techniques.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Within the context of the course,
The lectures are arranged to provide students with the knowledge on the basics that form the jewellery design perception of 21st century. The transformation of jewellery is taught using visuals of the designs of studied dates. Pioneer jewellery designers and artists and their approaches on jewellery is studied from the 20th Century on. The works of 21st century jewellery artists are studied. Students are asked to make jewellery design proposals and studying on these proposals, the material and production methods are determined. Finally, the designed jewellery is produced in the atelier.
