Course Objective

The purpose of this lesson is to give the introductions about main principles of using camera and lighting equipments in cinema and tv productions, and be up to date about image technology, scale of shots, movements of camera in shots, To give information about DSLRs, professional HD video camcorders, camera accessories, sound equipments and natural and artifical lighting sources and equipments and making practice about how to use this equipments in shooting digital media. The main process is having experience about basic direction of photography in shooting with all this equipments.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Having ability to choose the actual shooting techniques and equipments of a film production
2   Having ability to choose shooting and lighting equipments and using them
3   Having a good comprehension of terminology of camera and shooting techniques
4   Having ability to use camera and secondary equipments of camera
5   Having ability to plan necessary camera movement of shoots in a scene and to arrange them
6   Having ability to use all secondary camera equipments and accessories
7   Having ability and experience on to use actual camera techniques and to create images in documentaries, clips, commercials and fiction movies

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The lecturer leads the students to create film projects, and make them to practice and get experience in sample projects.
Every week at first and last lesson of the course the lecturer review the projects and inform about new technologies, advice to practice in tv studio process and etc.
The lecturer promotes the students for attending the lesson and creating and improving own projects

Practices
The students will be informed with a sample project which they can learn about practicing their own projects.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

1- Each student will practice a project which he/she will choose a movement style in cinema and they will use different camcorders and accessories in the project.
2- Each student may design shoots which using camera and secondary equipments in a creative way.
3- The points rating methods which earned on attending will be defined a) attending the lessons b) the capability of understanding and the quality of projects c)the subscription of the student to create an efficient study condition.

Assessment Criteria

The attending and capability of perception and talent in projects and lessons will be the main criteria of assessment.

Course Policies and Rules

1- It is bound to attend the 70% of lessons per each term.
2- Not attending the lessons is not to be evaluated as a valid excuse for delivering the projects after expiring date
3- The point of assessment will increase as a letter per each day of expired date
