Reflection of painting and photographing in Cinema, through consideration of the basic composition principles and their reproduction. Filming with accurate framing and composition knowledge will be aimed by providing knowledge about composition factors

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Utilisation of the composition and lightening in Renaissance art of painting within the visuals created
2   Developing ability of creating space with the camera, editing a correct composition
3   Developing capacity for creating ambience through sampling from world cinema.
4   Developing a sense of criticism for existing visuals
5   Developing a skill for comparison between visual impressions in Turkish and foreign cinemas.
6   Understanding the effect of the different colors and their combinations on the viewer.
7   Developing an awareness to the rhythm of the visuals.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Courses
The teacher provides knowledge in visual composition and atmosphere creation through films and visuals. The teacher directs the students to create a project and demands them to use the cases studied.
During the stage of actual shooting, samples from students works will be screened at class to participants of the course. Participants involvement in discussions will be encouraged.

Practice
At the stage of the actual shooting of the project, students will be informed about the method they should use.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

1. Student will shoot a new scene on the basis of a painting assigned beforehand.
2. Students will make a presentation on a subject assigned by teacher.
3. Students grades will depend on:
a) presence in course
b) quality of answers given by the student to questions asked by teacher and his/her involvement in inclass activity.
c) Student s contribution in creating a positive learning milieu.

Assessment Criteria

Participation, understanding and skills in fulfilling the demands of project and homework practices will be taken in consideration.

Course Policies and Rules

1.student must participate in 70% of the classes
2.Homeworks and projects must be submitted in time regardless to the participation in the classes.
3.Grades will be decreased for each day project submission is delayed.
